INTERCOLL Group Participated in German Liquid Crystal Conference (GLCC) Conference
Apr 28, 2026
The INTERCOLL group recently had the pleasure of attending the German Liquid Crystal Conference (GLCC) conference from April 8–10, Luxembourg.
The INTERCOLL group recently had the pleasure of attending the GLCC conference from April 8–10, held at the striking Campus Belval in the beautiful city of Esch-sur-Alzette, Luxembourg. Hosted by Professor Jan Lagerwall, the event was a fantastic opportunity for our team to connect with colleagues and share our latest findings in a truly inspiring setting.
Our members presented several key works developed under the ERC-funded CELICOIDS project, showcasing the diverse research happening within our group:
-
Shorooq Alzoubi (P2): Liquid Crystal Phases of End-Modified Bacterial and Sisal Cellulose Nanocrystals
-
Iman Ramazani Sarbandi(P6): Drying-Induced Buckling and Liquid Crystalline Ordering in Cellulose Nanocrystal Microdroplets
-
Hossein Khanjanzadeh (P42): Chiral Self-Assembly Behavior of Carboxylated Cellulose Nanocrystals Obtained by Ammonium Persulfate (APS) Oxidation
-
Mahboubeh Nabavinia (P48): Systematic Evaluation of Methoxy Polyethylene Glycol (mPEG) Molecular Weight on the Colloidal and Solid-State Characteristics of End-Grafted Cellulose Nanocrystals
-
Sara Papini (P49): Phase Behaviour and Self-Assembly Beyond Cellulose I
A Sincere Thank You
We want to extend our warm thanks to the organizers for putting together such a wonderful conference. It was a privilege to present our work at Campus Belval and engage with the liquid crystal scientific community.
Finally, we gratefully acknowledge the European Research Council (ERC) for their funding of the CELICOIDS project. This research is only possible through their support, and we are proud to see these results shared.
