The INTERCOLL group presented their latest research at the European Polysaccharide Network of Excellence (EPNOE) 2025 Conference in Sundsvall, Sweden (25–28 August 2025). The event gathered leading scientists and industry professionals to discuss the newest advances in polysaccharide research.
We were honored that Professor Justin Zoppe was invited to deliver a keynote lecture on designing chiral templates with cellulose nanocrystal allomorphs and polymer end-tethering.
Our group members showcased their work within the framework of the ERC granted Project CELICOIDS:
- ShorooqAlzoubi – C8: Surface Modification of Carboxylated Cellulose Nanocrystals Via Post-Sulfation
- Iman Ramazani Sarbandi – M44: Effect of Surfactant Concentration on Cellulose Nanocrystal Microdroplet Drying Kinetics and Buckling
- Sara Papini – C18: End-Group Modification of Cellulose III Nanocrystals with Polyethylene Glycols
- Hossein Khanjanzadeh – M39: Exploring the Chirality of Carboxylated Cellulose Nanocrystals Derived from Waste Cardboard Fibers
- Mahboubeh Nabavinia – M27: Modulating Reductive Amination Reaction for End-Grafted Methoxy Polyethylene Glycol on Cellulose Nanocrystals: Evaluating Dispersibility, Biodegradability, and Chirality
A highlight of the conference was Iman Ramazani Sarbandi winning 2nd place out of 104 posters for best poster, sponsored by BioNavis Oy — congratulations! 🎉
We sincerely thank Pedro Fardim, Magnus Norgren, and the organizers at EPNOE Association, Mid Sweden University, FSCN Research Centre, and Sundsvalls Kommun for an excellent and inspiring program.
We gratefully acknowledge the support of the European Research Council (ERC) for funding the CELICOIDS project, which made this research possible.
